WW1 Veteran and War Graves Week in Portadown

Portadown Heritage Tours are pleased to launch their first WW1 Veteran and War Graves Week from 8th June until 15th June 2023.

After completing two years of research we are pleased to launch this programme of events to bring the stories of Veterans of the Great War to the forefront once again.

There is a number of events throughout the week.


Cemetery Tours

  • Thursday 8th June – Seagoe Veteran Graves Tour at 11am and Seagoe Commonwealth War Graves Tour at 7:30pm
  • Friday 9th June – Drumcree Veteran Graves Tour at 11.30am and Seagoe Veteran Graves Tour at 7:00pm
  • Monday 12th June – Seagoe Veteran Graves Tour at 10.30am
  • Wednesday 14th June – Drumcree Veteran Graves Tour at 7:30pm

Recommended donation for the tours is £3pp. Funds raised go towards the continued upkeep and maintenance of the graves by Portadown Ex Servicemen LOL 608.

Remembrance Wreath Workshop

  • Monday 12th June – Remembrance Wreath Workshop to be held at Carleton Street Orange Hall at 7.15pm. Places are limited so please contact us to reserve your place. Recommended donation is £5 per person.


Military Talks and Presentations

  • Tuesday 13th June at Carleton Street Orange Hall, ‘Portadown: A Call to Arms’, Presentation by local Historian Richard Edgar at 7:30pm
  • Thursday 15th June at Carleton Street Orange Hall, ‘The 9th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers’, Presentation by Carol Walker MBE at 7:00pm


No Booking is required for the Military Talks and Presentations, everyone is welcome to join us.

Please join us throughout the week and support events so that we can tell the stories of these Great War Veterans. Until now their stories have been lost to history. Help us bring their stories to the forefront and keep their history alive for future generations. Each individual had a role in the local community and helped towards the development of the town through different aspects.
